2010 observed in
Bangladesh
The
World Malaria Day
2010 was observed in
Bangladesh as
elsewhere across the
globe on Sunday, the
25th of April 2010.
The objective of the
day was to create
mass awareness on
malaria prevention
and control in the
malaria endemic
districts of
Bangladesh.
The main function,
to mark the day,
was organized in the
Bandarban Hill Tract
District on the day
with Mr. Bir Bahadur
U Swe Ching MP;
Chairman of the
Chittagong Hill
Tract Development
Board; as Chief
Guest, Dr Duangvadee
Sungkhobol, WHO
Representative to
Bangladesh, Dr
Dibash Chandra Dey;
Director, Disease
Control, DGHS; Mr.
Mizanur Rahman;
Deputy Commissioner,
Bandarban, Lt. Col.
Anwar Hossain and
Mr. Md. Kamrul Ahsan;
Superintendent
of Police, Bandarban
were present at the
function as Special
Guests. The
Inaugural function
was chaired by Mr.
Kyaw Shwe Hla,
Chairman, Bandarban
Hill District
Council.
Earlier a colorful
rally was brought
out in the city and
people from all
walks of life
attended the rally.
The World Malaria
Day Seminar was held
in the Tribal
Cultural Centre, in
Bandarban, while a
drama was staged on
malaria control by
the local Drama
Circle .The World
malaria events
created greater
awareness on malaria
prevention and
control among the
people of the
endemic districts of
Bangladesh.
